Inquiry - I am an an Inventor - Part 3

                                   Designing a Pet House

After designing our t-shirts, we decided to design pet houses. There were number of things we had to look into -
Pet  - What kind of  animal they were building for, some children do not have pets and they decided to build a pet house for their Nana or Poppa's pet. Or imaginary pet!
Material - Some children thought of using glass, planks of wood and iron. As it was hard to get  and use these materials, so we decided to use the resources available in the classroom.
Scale and ratio - We discussed how the exact measurements can not be shown on paper.

Little angels were thinking like architects, engineers and builders - planning and re-planning,  changing measurements , their designs and material according to the need and availability of the resources......
"My fish needs more space to swim. So I will build a bigger tank"
"My Nana's dog cannot fit in this kennel so I need more cardboard to make the pet house bigger"

"This cardboard is not thick enough" And I said we do not have thicker cardboard in the resource room and you will have to think how to make walls stronger.  "it's okay, I will fold this cardboard to make thicker and stronger" came the reply.

Language and creativity was just amazing - adding fireplace to keep pets warm, a cosy bed for a guinea pig and bed for Nana's pet.

A bird nest

Adding doors and a fire place for his pet.

Making a playful fish tank!

Concentration and focus goes into building things.

Cute as a button bird nest.

We had students from R.20 and they also joined in and had their creative hats on!

Beautiful house for her dog.

An engineer in making. Amazing.

Great team work.
